Raffles American School is honored to have achieved full accreditation status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the USA. Raffles American School was granted immediate accreditation through June 2017. RAS administration is extremely proud of the efforts of our students, teachers and community in creating a quality, learning environment, worthy of accreditation, within the first two years of opening.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States. The philosophy of the Accrediting Commission for Schools centers upon three beliefs: (1) a school’s goal is successful student learning; (2) each school has a clear purpose and schoolwide student goals; and (3) a school engages in external and internal evaluations as part of continued school improvement to support student learning. Accreditation is integral to a school’s perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reassessment based on student achievement. WASC encourages school improvement through a process of continued evaluation and recognize, by accreditation, schools that meet an acceptable level of quality, in accordance with established criteria. WASC means We Are Student-Centered.

RAS is proud to be officially welcomed as a full member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
Dr. Dick Krajczar, executive director of EARCOS, visited RAS in April 2015 in response to our application for membership to the organization. Dr. Krajczar was impressed by the friendly students, teachers and staff members. After a visit to our construction site and review of our architectural plans for the permanent campus he applauded RAS on both our current and future educational facilities and programs.
EARCOS inspires adult and student learning through its leadership and service and fosters intercultural understanding, global citizenship and exceptional educational practices within their learning community.
The East Asia Regional Council of Schools is an organization of 146 member schools in East Asia. These schools have a total of more than 110,095 pre-K to 12th grade students. EARCOS also has 156 associate members—textbook and software publishers and distributors, universities, financial planners, architectural firms, insurance companies, youth organizations, etc—and 19 individual members.
Membership in EARCOS is open to elementary and secondary schools in East Asia which offer an educational program using English as the primary language of instruction, and to other organizations, institutions, and individuals interested in the objectives and purposes of the Council.
Congratulations to RAS on achieving this milestone!
