2017 Raffles Design Competition FAQ

IS THERE A RESTRICTION ON THE TYPE OF ART MATERIAL AND COLORS I CAN USE? (EG. DIGITAL PAINTING, CRAYON, WATER COLOR)

No digital assistance is permitted, only hand designed artwork. Participants are only allowed to use markers for designing; however there are no colour restrictions for the design.

WHEN CAN I START SUBMITTING MY DESIGNS?

There is no start date; you can submit your designs to us whenever you are ready.

CAN I USE AN A4 SIZED PAPER?

Yes. We will only accept designs drawn on an A4 size (210mm x 297mm) paper.

CAN I EMAIL MY DESIGN?

No. Only hardcopy submission via your school counsellor or mail postage is permitted.

WHAT ARE THE SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS?

Each notebook cover design must be hand drawn using marker/s only with the phrase ‘Success by Design’ in it. The submission form must be completed and mailed to us along with your notebook cover design. Slot them in an envelope and mail it to us at the following address by 1 July 2017:

HOW WILL I KNOW IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED MY ARTWORK?

You will receive an SMS confirmation to your mobile number provided upon acceptance of your artwork.

HOW DOES THE VOTING PROCESS WORKS?

A numerical voting system will be used to determine the design with the most votes. The results will also determine the Top 10 Most Popular Votes winners for the ‘Voter’s Choice Award’ category.

CAN I FOLD MY ARTWORK WHEN MAILING IT OVER?

Yes. But we recommend rolling it or folding it once only.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO REGISTER FOR THIS COMPETITION?

No, there is no registration fee required for this competition.

CAN I SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE ENTRY?

Each participant is only allowed to submit one entry per submission.

WHO CAN JOIN THE COMPETITION?

The competition is open to all secondary school students aged 16 and above living in Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak).

WHAT IS THE JUDGING CRITERIA?

Originality & Creativity: 50%
Relevance to competition requirement: 50%

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I VOTE FOR MY DESIGN?

You can only vote for your design once, however you can get your friends and family to vote for your design too. As long as they have a Facebook account, they can visit our website or Facebook page to vote for your design.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY ARTWORK WILL BE UPLOADED ONLINE AND READY FOR VOTING?

Head over to our website or Facebook page from 16th May 2017 onwards, to view the shortlisted artwork uploaded online.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I WON?

You will receive a notification via email, phone call or SMS by 1st August 2017 stating that you have won in any of the categories. Alternatively, head over to our website or Facebook page for the announcement of winners.

WILL MY ARTWORK BE RETURNED TO ME AFTER THE DESIGN COMPETITION?

All artworks will be kept until 30th September 2017. Any requests for artwork to be returned should proceed to our office for collection at:

All other artworks not collected by 30th September 2017 will be disposed.
