INDONESIA – Over a hundred high school students and their parents experienced an intimate introduction to the Raffles Education journey, during Raffles Jakarta’s Open House on the 5th of September, 2015 at its Citywalk Sudirman campus in the heart of Indonesia’s capital.
Strategically organised to provide a preview about prospective further education at Raffles Jakarta, the Open House showcased Raffles Jakarta’s core strengths and award-winning curriculum through several creative workshops, in which participants not just got insights into the various programmes offered, but also the chance to meet our current students and Creative Practitioners.
At the same time, the workshops also provided a valuable platform for our current students to highlight and showcase their abilities and skills, as part of our continued focus on the development of our students’ creativity and imagination during their time with us. By empowering our students through such skill-relevant workshops, we strive to incubate a nurturing environment, through which alumni can successfully pursue their passions professionally upon graduation from Raffles.
A diverse array of workshops were offered, including four across the design fields (Fashion, Interior, Visual Communication and Digital Media design respectively), alongside Fashion Marketing and Business Management workshops from our business programmes.
From a unique introduction to character design in the Visual Communication field through an initiation of their own perspectives on famous characters, to learning about paper draping from our Fashion Design Creative Practitioners, or even a challenging task to recreate a space out of PlayDoh for participants of the Interior Design sessions, visitors were thoroughly engaged in the Raffles Jakarta experience.
Some works would even catch the eye of our Creative Practitioners with their skillful execution, with the top students from each workshop given prizes for their art submissions. All workshop participants would go home with certificates of participation – but perhaps more importantly, a greatly enriching introduction to the Raffles Jakarta experience.
An exhibition displaying past and present student works and achievements during the Open House, through portfolios, fashion collections, and exciting video presentations, gave visitors an insight of the capability of Raffles students and graduates.
“I am glad that I had the opportunity to join this workshop at Raffles Jakarta. I knew the campus in Singapore, and it’s nice to have it here also. It definitely has given me great food-for-thought in terms of what I’ll like to further my studies in after I graduate high school,” said Febri, one of the students attending the Visual Communication workshop.
With a track record of sterling drive and philosophy for over 25 years, Raffles will strive to continue providing the best education for the budding designers, entrepreneurs and marketers of the creative industry in Indonesia, and beyond!
