SINGAPORE – As a practice-oriented and industry-focused institution, Raffles believe in encouraging students to participate in competitions in order to hone and perfect their skills. Over the years, many have gained honour and recognition through competitions and progressed far to be the spotlight of their careers. Nevertheless, we continue to celebrate these achievements and Raffles were once again in the limelight for their participation in the recent World Without Strangers T-Shirt Design Competition.
Organised by Giordano, the 2015 edition was opened to all polytechnic and tertiary students who are majoring in design related courses in Singapore. Among the hundreds of submissions, Raffles Graphic Designer Vinnie ANG and Fashion Marketers Nathalie SCHOEPE, Gilbert LIM, Alexandria HILLS, Yu Yao LI, Yin Min LEE and Bernike Aimee PRANANTO progressed to the final 20. Their designs were selected and posted on Giordano’s Facebook page for a week of public voting.
Indeed, the students did the school proud as Raffles Graphic Designer Vinnie ANG came out as the 1st runner up of this competition. “This competition has given me real-life experience in the design-related industry. My studies at Raffles Singapore have been a balance of theory and practical – and most importantly I’ve had the opportunity for hands-on industry projects and the chance to build my portfolio”, said Raffles Graphic Designer Vinnie ANG.
Giordano’s philosophy of “World Without Strangers” transcends its origins and develops enduring trust and strong relationships with consumers across all borders and cultures.
The essence of Giordano is to provide relevant, essential and timeless fashion for all; and to develop apparel for everyone regardless of ethnicity, nationality or culture.
